PURPOSE:

  • Evaluate the health status of the patient
  • Used to detect wide range of diseases such as anemia, infection and leukemia.
  • It may be used to detect if the patient has bleeding disorder
  • Used to monitor the effectiveness of the medical treatment and medical conditions.

PATIENT PREPARATION:

  • No patient preparation needed

TYPE OF SPECIMEN:

  • 2mL EDTA whole blood for adults
  • 0.25 to 0.50 mL EDTA microtainer whole blood for pediatrics patients

REJECTION OF SPECIMEN:

  • Clotted specimen
  • QNS (quality not sufficient)
  • Improperly labeled specimen

RUNNING DAY:

  • Everyday

SPECIMEN STABILITY:

  • ROOM TEMPERATURE (20-24°C)

 

  • REFRIGERATED TEMPERATURE (2-8°C)

 

  • 4 HOURS

 

  • 24 HOURS

RELEASING OF RESULTS:

  • 30 minutes after blood extraction
