PURPOSE:

  • for the detection of antibodies to syphilis antigen
  • an aid in the diagnosis of relative infection and relative symptoms, screening test for sex transmitted diseases (STD) among high-risk individuals, regular health examinations and field screen test for bloodbanks.

PATIENT PREPARATION:

  • No patient preparation needed

TYPE OF SPECIMEN:

  • 2-3 mL of serum (red top)

REJECTION OF SPECIMEN:

  • Hemolyzed specimen
  • Improperly labeled tube

 

RUNNING DAY:

  • Everyday

 

SPECIMEN STABILITY:

  • ROOM TEMPERATURE (20-24°C)

 

  • REFRIGERATED TEMPERATURE (2-8°C)

 

  • 5 days

 

  • 7 days

RELEASING OF RESULTS:

  • 2-3 hours after blood extraction
